Jessica arrived on Earth in 1952 bearing gifts: ASD, SDAM, aphantasia, and gender dysphoria.
Long before it was cool. Long before they had the words.
From K–12, everyone knew Jessica.
The punchline of every prank.
Dad said, “Be an engineer. You’ll always have a job.”
She spent the next fifty years not so much doing what she loved as loving what she did.
Be in the world, but not of it.
After retiring at 72, Jessica sought therapy.
It was there she discovered that everything she knew about herself was dead wrong.
She has never run a marathon.
She has never loved anyone.
Jessica started over.
